Kompany flies in his trusted Belgian physio

11:01 01/03/2013

Belgium and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has turned to a trusted Belgian physio in a bid to save his season, reports the Mirror’s David McDonnell. Kompany has missed his side’s last five games with a calf problem and has not played since suffering the injury in City’s 1-0 FA Cup win at Stoke on January 26. He suffered a setback in his recovery after a problem developed in his other calf and delayed his expected comeback. Now he has put his faith in experienced physio Lieven Maesschalck (pictured) in the hope he can get him back playing as quickly as possible. Maesschalck is flying to Manchester from Belgium to spend a week working with Kompany on an intensive treatment programme. The physio works with the Belgium national team and has also treated the likes of Andriy Schevchenko and Kaka in the past. City boss Roberto Mancini is desperate to have Kompany back soon to boost their fading title hopes and their FA Cup challenge.
