Independent worker in Belgium/ How to
Dear all,
I've just registered as an independent in Belgium. Regarding the accounting bit, it seems it is not mandatory but highly recommended to have an accountant.
Well in the beginning I don't think I will have so much profit so I thought about going at it on my own. Is there any site/info on how to do this in Belgium in english? If not in French? Anybody has a clue on how to do a VAT trimester statement? How where to find a book called freelacing for dummies in Belgium? Any general tips?
Or if anybody has affordable english speaking accountants contacts that would be helpful too.
Thanks!!
Borbo
Hi Borbo,
You may find you receive more replies if you post this again after Easter, when everyone is back from their holidays. In the meantime though, I think it might be a good idea to go the tax office of your local commune and get them to explain all the TVA rules and regs to you and supply you with the relevant brochures etc . If you are not fluent in the native languages then take a friend with you who is! (I live in Etterbeek and set up an appt with someone in their TVA admin dept who couldn't have been more helpful.)
This website might also be of help to get you started (it contains an FAQ section): http://www.fiscus.fgov.be/interfaoiffr/Identification_TVA/inleiding.htm
Can't provide any more up-to-date info I'm afraid or recommend an accountant because it's a while since I was independent but good luck with your venture!
Good luck with your venture!
I would recommend to have an accountant to help you to sort this TVA issues. Roughly the accountant cost would be around 300 euros per quarter (+/_ TVA) this depends on the service level you require... Good luck ..
I would recommend
