Independent Leaving Belgium: Paying Tax

Question

Hi all,

I'm likely to leave Belgium next year or the year after. I've been working as an independent since 2009 so this year I'll be paying tax for money earned last year.

My question is: when I leave Belgium will I have to pay all outstanding tax when I exit or will I still have a year to save for this? I'm moving to another EU country.

My concern is that I could end up with a large tax bill which has to be paid up front. For example, if I left in the summer of 2013 would I have to pay tax for 2012 and the first half of 2013 immediately or would I still have a year to do so?

Thanks.

J

That's advice you'd best ask your accountant.
.
I would guess that if you're expecting to have "time to save" for the tax bill, and therefore don't have something systematically put to the side for taxation and social security as you earn it that you'll be pleased to know tht you ought to have about 9 months after the end of this tax year to pay this years taxes.
