ID (E card) renewal after graduation

Question

Hi everyone. I’m an EU national, and I first received my ID card on the basis of my enrollment in the university. In December of this year I will have to renew my ID but I will have only graduated from my university in September, and I don’t know yet if I will have a job.

My question is what documents are required for the renewal of the ID in my case? Will I be able to present my diploma or grades transcript in case I won’t have a work contract yet?

Under EU freedom of movement rules you have three months to find yourself a job which provides enough income to support yourself.

Under EU freedom of movement rules you need only need a picture and about 20€ to renew your E card.
Please note only Belgian nationals are entitled an Belgian ID. As EU citizen basically you do not need a E card at all as freedom of movement rules apply. E card it is just to facilitate dealing with administration.

Please explain this to my mother who has been been hassling me for years to get a Belgian E card. I've been working here as a freelance consultant for 5+ years. I haven't had any problems. S payroll company takes care of taxes etc. My net is paid to a euro bank account outside Belgium. I have even been randomly ID spot checked, showed my Irish passport...no probs.
