How to get into... Teaching in Belgium

Question

Dear all, I hope someone out the can help with this question. I have always had an interest in the Education sector and I am seriously interested in a career change from a designer to an art teacher or careers/educational adviser however I am not sure where to start. I am interested in eventually working at one of the English speaking schools in Brussels.

I would just like some advice about where I could start, are there any English speaking courses in Belgium for this sector? or/and if anyone has been through a similar journey?

Any answers is much appreciated.

Given that there are only a very small number of English speaking schools in Brussels, even including the multi-lingual ones, why don't you approach them and ask if they might employ you if you were suitably qualified, what those suitable qualifications might be and whether you can attain them in Belgium.

There are a variety of routes into teaching in the U.K. However, the most common is via a PGCE qualification. I doubt if you could study for one here, but you can do it via the Open University. Read page 10 of this document.

Start your own business and give private lessons/courses. Also follow the suggestions from BECASSE - approach the English speaking schools in Brussels.
