How expensive is a dog

For us it has just been the cost of food and water. In order to obtain the required pet passport you will have to go to the vet. For our chihuahua it we paid 100 euros to get the required EU pet passport, vaccines (rabies, kennel cough, etc), and preventatives for fleas and ticks. Unless your dog gets ill or injured, having a dog here hasn't been too costly. That said, we can take our tiny dog anywhere, and have not had to pay for pet sitters when we travel. Also, tiny dogs probably do not wreck havoc on the garden or property that a large dog might. I applaud you for thinking everything through carefully before making a commitment of 10, 15, or even 20 years. There are many people who don't, and their poor dogs are abandoned and then often put down in shelters as a result. Good luck and bless you!
