The house prices in the Brussels-Capital Region have gone down slightly in 2014 compared to the previous year, but are still significantly higher than in Flanders and Wallonia, according to Brusselnieuws.be, based on the latest figures from the FPS Economy published this week.

The three most expensive towns in Belgium to buy a house are located in the Brussels-Capital Region or Brussels Periphery: frontrunner is Ixelles/Elsene (an average of €523,279), followed by Woluwe-Saint-Pierre/Sint-Pieters-Woluwe (€481,126) and Brussels Centre (€475,733). The most affordable houses in the Brussels-Capital Region are found in Anderlecht (€230,464).

The most expensive municipalities in Flanders to buy a house are the Brussels suburb of Wezembeek-Oppem (€370,022), followed by Kraainem, Linkebeek and Meise.

On average, an ordinary house in the Brussels-Capital Region costs €358,000, while a villa costs €986,000 and an apartment €227,000.
