HOMESCHOOLING IN ENGLISH

Question

Hello community.
I am a mother of a 2-year-old boy and I would love to homeschool him IN ENGLISH. We are living in the Wallonian part so french speaking. Do you know if the tests/assessements will be uniquely in French or I have the option.
It would be so much easier for me since I am not french speaking.
Thank you for helping.

I have no idea about your specific question.
But I put my 3 year old child into the local maternelle and he was speaking French in a few months. Reading and writing doesn’t start till age 6.
Go for it. Better than home schooling. Children need the company of their peers.
Having been educated in French, he went on to get a First class degree at a British university.

Given that school does not start until your son is six, that leaves you several years to do adequate research into home-schooling.

In the meantime, send him to your local pre-school.
In French.

J is wrong (on this occasion), because by the time that your son reaches the age of 5 schooling will be compulsory. In the meantime, once he is two years and six months he can go to maternelle (and you should be enquiring at your commune about it now as you may need to reserve a place in advance depending on where you live). Maternelle schooling will be in French if you live in a francophone commune but as WW says he will pick the language up in next to no time at all AND he will acquire lots of local school friends, almost more important than picking up the language (and the general education that maternelle provides).

J Googled "homeschool" and found a plethora of confusing options for diverse levels of control-freakery and paranoia. Which is a totally unfair reflection on the kids he knows who've done it.

And I'm glad they're making 3rd maternelle compulsory. My lot are a bit passed that stage.
