Hollywood film being shot in heart of Brussels
For five days this week, the centre of Brussels forms the backdrop for a new Hollywood film, The Danish Girl by Tom Hooper, starring Oscar-winning British actor Eddie Redmayne, who performs the role of a transgender person in the film, reports brusselnieuws.be. Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts also has a role in the film.
Director Hooper and star Redmayne (pictured), who previously worked together on the set of Les Miserables, are in Brussels to shoot scenes for The Danish Girl, a true story that recounts the struggle of the world's first male-to-female transgender patient. Redmayne recently won a Bafta, Golden Globe and Oscar for his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
As well as at the cafe La Mort Subite, the crew is recording in the Horta Museum and the Saint-Hubert Gallery, before moving on to other European capitals, including Berlin, London and Copenhagen.
The film is scheduled to be released this autumn across the US.

Good luck to the editors of the scenes who will have to cut off the garbage bags.
