Hijacked Account

I would like to find out why my hotmail account is unable to open. I'm always being told to use microsoft password of which i think is the same password that i have always used to log in to hotmail. On the other hand, when i look on the left side of the page it says update to new 'outlook account' and i have already opened up the new outlook account which i thought would atleast be easy to import my hotmail inbox to but hell no! I'm not even finding it easy to set up the outlook inbox.
If anyone has an idea of what am talking about, please help!
