Heineken kidnap film to start shooting in Belgium

10:26 09/10/2013

Kidnapping Freddy Heineken, the film about the abduction of the brewing magnate, is about to start shooting in Belgium. The film, directed by Daniel Alfredson, stars Anthony Hopkins, Sam Worthington, Jim Sturgess and Ryan Kwanten, reports The Wrap. The film was adapted from a bestselling book by Netherlands crime journalist Peter R de Vries and tells the real-life tale of the 1983 kidnapping of Freddy Heineken (played by Hopkins) and his chauffeur. The pair were eventually released for a ransom that would have been worth around €35m in today’s money. After Belgium, production will move to Amsterdam and New Orleans.
