Health insurance for non-EU citizens

Question

Dear all,

My non-EU mother needs surgery which is not possible in her own country so she will be coming to Brussels to have it done. The problem is that she does not have health insurance as the one she has from back home is not recognized here. Can anyone tell me if any of the insurance companies here can provide her coverage and if so, which one? Also, I have a mutuelle. Does anyone know if there is anyway that it can extend coverage to my mother as well? Thanks a lot!

Mimi

Coverage is provided only for residents and it takes six months to come into effect. In her case she'll have to pay the full amount.
