Health insurance covering travel in US?

Question

Hi,
Can you please recommend an insurance company (belgian or american) you've used before when traveling as an expat to the U.S.?
We are americans living in Brussels but traveling back to the U.S.A. for vacations this summer. Has anyone bought medical insurance, I am not talking about travel insurance the one that covers interrupted trips, etc, I want the one that covers any sudden illness, to see a regular doctor for anything from a baby's high fever to food poisoning and prescription medication needed for it. You know, the kind of unforeseen medical needs a family with children might have. Thank you.

If you are living in Belgium and either you or your spouse are working you probably belong to a mutuelle which covers you for medical expenses in Belgium. It probably also covers you for any EU country. You should check with your mutuelle to see what coverage you have for outside the EU. It is possible you already have some short term coverage for USA. If not ask them what is necessary to have this kind of coverage. It may simply be getting a letter from them acknowledging that you have this coverage.

I am in your situation and have ING travel insurance. It is a basic coverage with relatively no limits of coverage for the whole family.
Our mutuelle does not cover any medical issues in the USA, and likely none do.

I looked into a number of companies in Belgium and the UK, and found the ING product to fit our needs best. If you want millions of dollars in coverage, then you'll need another policy.

Meant to say, 'relatively LOW (not no) limits of coverage for the whole family'

we have a 'whole family world omnium travel insurance' (including medical, bring home to BE, accident, cancellation ....) from Touring Belgium for 259 € / year.
They offer several options and we shopped the mentioned one.
