halloween

Question

My local Carrefour has loads of halloween costumes for children and decorations but in the years I have lived here I have had no more than a handful of children ring the doorbell for candy.   We dont live in a large expat area so I am assuming the stores are catering to Belgians but how is Halloween celebrated then?  School events?    TIA

how is Halloween celebrated

It's not really. The shops try to seize on Halloween as an early excuse to try to get kids in to look at toys for St Nicolas, which they can't officially start pushing until the 1st of November. But Halloween as such is not really a Belgian cellebration.

There is certainly no established tradition of dressing up and trick-or-treating.

All Saints and All Souls, however (1st & 2nd of November) are traditionally the time where you go & visit the tomb of relatives and remember loved ones no longer with us.
