Grand-Place becomes a market again for one day

20:19 29/04/2018

On Thursday (3 May) at noon, for the second year, 30 market vendors from the City of Brussels' 15 open-air markets will be returning the Grand-Place to its original function.

The "Market of Markets" will be held on the kick-off day for an international campaign, I Love My Market, which will raise the profile of open-air food markets by stressing the social and convivial aspects as well as the opportunity to buy local and quality produce.

By bringing together in one place vendors from across the city, the Grand-Place event is an easy way for consumers to discover the breadth of the offer.

Economic affairs alderwoman Marion Lemesre said: "Over the past few years, in response to the customers' expectations, the quality of the produce has risen with seasonal and local products. Additionally these markets bring life to the neighborhoods and create jobs."

In Brussels and Wallonia, 40 markets will be participating in I Love My Market, offering tastings and fun activities. Brussels has stepped up its offer with many events ranging from music concerts to raffles to workshops to free bicycle anti-theft engraving.
