Google, European Commission top Ideal Employers Survey
Most Belgian students are hoping to get a job at a large, foreign company after graduation, according to a survey by Universum Global, which specialises in the branding of companies.
Universum Global questioned 7,044 students from 17 Belgian universities and colleges for their Ideal Employers Survey. Their main question revolved around dream jobs. The students could choose their five favourite employers from a list of companies active in Belgium.
Foreign companies came out on top in the survey. Internet giant Google was the most popular employer among economics, engineering and science students, while the European Commission was the favourite employer of those enrolled in arts, human sciences and education programmes. Google again ranked third as the most popular in the overall list of both groups.
In terms of local employers, Flemish media company Medialaan (previously VMM) came in second with the human sciences group, while dredging company Jan De Nul is the third-best employer according to science students. Brussels Airlines is the fourth-most popular for human sciences students, while the airline company ranks third among science students.
Comments
Not really surprising that the Commission is a popular choice - getting well paid for doing very little is very attractive.
