Getting furniture to the fourth floor

Question

Hello,
Can anybody explain to me the logistics of getting furniture up to the fourth floor of an apartment block? How is this done in Brussels especially if there is limited access to the front of the building? Any recommendations regarding companies? Can furniture bought in IKEA, for example, be delivered to your actual apartment and assembled? Thanks.

You need to hire a lift. they can usually manage it even with limited access. Ikea will deliver and assemble furniture for you, but the prices are sky-high. and, take it from me, they don't do stairs. you can also hire a small moving van from Ikea, i think, and transport it yourself.

In many cases the main window can be removed to allow access from outside via a lift.
If necessary a company supplying a lift will be able to arrange with your commune to place signs to ensure adequate access.
Check out what is needed to assemble IKEA furniture. In my experience their instructions are clear both as to how to do it and what tools are needed. It really isn't very challenging though you might need an extra pair of hands for the biggest items.
