The International Chorale of Brussels is a multinational choir of around 65 singers. The choir has members from many nationalities, although the working language remains English. The choir has been directed by John Brown since 2009 and it performs several times a year in and around the Brussels area.

The choir’s repertoire covers well known masses and large scale works, as well as less familiar music and composers including modern works. Previous concerts have included masses by Mozart, Palestrina, Monteverdi, Liszt and others, as well as spirituals, Sacred Songs by Karl Jenkins, and a selection of show tunes and jazz favourites.

Music at The International School of Brussels (16.30, Henry Le Boeuf Concert Hall)

Music is featured in the ISB curriculum from Nursery through High School. In the early years, children develop their listening skills: they learn the role of rhythm and beat and explore a whole variety of sound and movement. They have the opportunity to play a range of musical instruments. By the time they are ten, in grade 5, they can choose to play in the band, join the string ensemble or sing in the choir.

The ISB band programme consists of 7 major ensembles and several chamber groups Band members also have the opportunity to play in our Junior or Senior Jazz Bands and are encouraged to create their own chamber ensembles. Choir focuses on the refinement of vocal technique and builds individual skills that contribute to ensemble singing. Critical listening, aesthetic sensitivity, and creativity are developed in singers as a means of personal assessment and in comparatively judging all music. ISB's strings program focuses on the instruction of the key skills required to play each instrument.
