Gap caused by Orange card
I'm a US citizen(resident in Belgium on my own wp) and my wife is Belgian. Long story very short I will need an orange card that serves as a stop-gap between 2 ID cards - One that will expire soon and the 2nd that can be applied for only much later.
Does anyone know if the issuance of an orange card will cause a gap/break in stay from an immigration point of view?
Sounds like a strange situation,
Don't see why it would make a gap, serves as valid residency ID, technically you're not aloud to leave Belgium if you have an orange card pending permanent residency, or so I was told.
I had an orange card as the spouse of EU citizen, served as my temporary residency and allowed me to work without more permits, after 6 months applied and got permanent residency that needs to renew every 5 years (F card).
While I was waiting months for it to go through my Schengen visa well expired, no one seemed to mind.
I am wondering why you aren't going to your commune/gemeente and asking them these questions? I wouldn't be so trusting of the information that is provided here.
