I live in 1000 Brussels and quite often see people putting old furniture on the street that usually disappears quite promtply. Is this an acceptable way to recylce some old furniture in reasonable condition, or would I risk being fined for this?

It's not at all unusual to see a message on the Brussels Freecycle list statig "furniture in good condition available at xxx", however, technically, it is dumping and you could be fined.

Freecycle would be safer.
