French rail strike affecting Brussels Eurostar and Thalys services

21:20 02/04/2018

Three Eurostar services from Brussels to London have been cancelled on Tuesday because of a strike by French train drivers.

The SNCF strike is also having a knock-on effect on Thalys, which has cancelled its 8.43 departure from Brussels-Midi to Paris. Trains from Amsterdam to Lille are only going as far as Brussels.

The affected Eurostar departures are the 8.52, 10.56 and 17.56 from Brussels to London. Two London-Brussels trains are also not running: at 8.54 and 12.58.

The SNCB expects severe disruption on the lines from Tournai and Mouscron to Lille. Staff at the French rail operator SNCF are protesting about government reforms to their work status.
