French open 100 companies per year in Belgium

09:51 12/09/2014

The number of French companies that establish themselves in Belgium has grown significantly over the last five years. There are currently more than 2,000 branches of French companies active in Belgium, an increase of 30% on five years ago, reports the French Chamber of Commerce in Belgium (CFCIB) in De Tijd and L’Echo. That amounts to more than 100 companies per year.

The main reason for the French influx is the economic crisis, says CFCIB director Anne-Christine Genouville (pictured, left): "The crisis has had quite an impact in France, leading many French companies to discover Belgium as an interesting export market. Nine out of 10 French companies that intend to do business abroad get their start in Belgium.”
