French air traffic control strike affects Belgian airports

11:27 09/04/2015

Wednesday’s strike by a union of air traffic controllers in France is having ripple effects in Belgium today, with dozens of flights cancelled or delayed at both Brussels Airport and Charleroi Airport. As a result of the strike, the Paris airports of Orly and Roissy on Wednesday cancelled about 40% of all flights.

In Belgium, the effects of the strike continue to be felt today. Brussels Airlines cancelled six round-trip flights to Marseille, Toulouse, Nice and Paris, while low-cost airline Ryanair cancelled several flights from Brussels Airport to Alicante, Barcelona and Porto. From Charleroi Airport, Ryanair cancelled today's flights to Figari, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Agadir, Montpellier, Rabat, Reus and Marseille.

There are also significant delays possible throughout the day, especially for flights to and from France, Spain and Portugal.
