Freelance - tax and other advice

Question

Hi,

I've just moved to Belgium and will be working freelance, paid from outside Belgium. I'm having trouble getting my head round the system for setting up as self-employed, registering for social security, sorting out VAT, dealing with tax issues etc.

Could anyone offer step-by-step advice or suggest where I might go for help. Also if anyone has any suggestions for a good, English-speaking account I'd be grateful.

My thanks

J

First thing to do is to get a decent accountant and talk to them. You need professional help as things are complex, and you'll have to get so far before you can get any money out of the system (I hope you have enough for a deposit + 3-4 months money for setup and living expenses).
.
Any other advice at this stage is futile.
