All you need to know about buying a property, mortgage and personal finance, investment and taxation

If Belgian administration wasn’t enough of a hurdle, the long-term financial implications of being an expat in Belgium are an added headache.

Hoping to answer all or at least some of your questions, is a free seminar on Saturday, October 11, organised by the British Chamber of Commerce. It covers a wide range of financial topics specifically for non-Belgians, including personal finance, saving and investing, buying property, setting up your own business, benefitting from social security, banking and insurance, inheritance tax, pension planning and tax and cross border estate planning.

The event's keynote speaker is Peter de Keyzer, chief economist at BNP Paribas Fortis, who will discuss his book Growth Makes You Happy, published in English and Dutch. Read an interview with Peter de Keyzer in Flanders Today. Lawyer Marc Quaghebeur is scheduled to present a workshop Crossborder Estate Planning: dos and dont's and present his book Rest in Peace, A Guide to Wills and Inheritance Tax in Belgium.

This second edition of Expat Financial Affairs takes place at Vlerick Business School on Place Rogier in Brussels. Expats are free to dip into the programme of events from 10.30 to 16.30, featuring interactive and instructive presentations and workshops. Register via the website.
