France’s richest man seeks Belgian nationality

Ahead of France’s threat to impose a wealth tax of 75%, the country’s richest man, 63-year-old billionaire Bernard Arnault, head of the LVMH luxury goods empire, has requested Belgian citizenship. Arnault is from northern France and has many personal and family ties with his neighbouring country, in addition to a house in Brussels. According to Georges Dallemagne, head of the Belgian Parliament’s naturalisation commission, Arnault’s application will be treated the same as all the others.
