Flanders and Quebec renew their collaboration
Belgium
08:48 03/10/2013
A new collaboration programme was signed yesterday between the province of Quebec and the Flemish region in the presence of Flanders’ deputy minister-president Geert Bourgeois. The programme, which identifies specific projects for the next three years, is the thirteenth of its kind. It is the result of agreement established by Flanders and Quebec back in 1989. It was the first international treaty signed by Flanders, even though in Quebec it is viewed as an entente, because the province is not allowed to sign treaties. The program covers mainly research and development, culture, education and economic matters. Both parties will examine in the next few months how this collaboration can be further intensified.
