First flight departs from Brussels Airport
The first passenger flight to operate from Brussels Airport since the deadly terror attacks there on 22 March departed on Sunday afternoon, the first of six return flights scheduled on Sunday from the airport. Another 20 flights are scheduled on Monday, writes VTM Nieuws.
The Brussels Airlines flight SN1901 departed at 13.40 with destination Faro, Portugal. In a symbolic gesture of Belgian unity, the airline chose to fly its new Magritte-themed plane, which was unveiled a day before the attack on the airport. There were a total of 80 passengers on the flight and no cancellations, says the airline.
Before departure, the plane taxied along a row of emergency services workers, in remembrance of the double bomb attack which took place 12 days ago in the airport departure hall.
