First case of prisoner euthanasia in Belgium

For the first time in Belgium, a prisoner has been euthanised. A man who spent 20 years in prison on rape and murder charges fell gravely ill and made repeated requests to die.  A few months ago, three doctors independently approved his request and the euthanasia was carried out, according to Het Nieuws. After the Netherlands, Belgium was the second country in the world to legalise euthanasia in 2002.
