My sound advice, do not get a dog at all. If you have any allergy problems, it will be very irresponsible to adopt a dog and then have to get rid of it. The homes are full-up of unwanted dogs and cats with the excuse allergy, baby, holidays, depression, etc. so please don't add to the list (even pedigree dogs are in the homes). You know you have an allergy, so why complicate your life and take a dog, please be responsible. A dog is for life.
