Federal Government donates €100,000 to Music for Life
The Belgian government has donated €100,000 to Music for Life, the annual solidarity and fundraising event launched by radio station Studio Brussel. Half of the donation will go to S.O.S. Kinderdorpen (Children's Villages) and the other half to Plan Belgium. Federal Development aid Minister Alexander De Croo personally handed over the cheque yesterday at Studio Brussel’s Music for Life booth in Boom, near Antwerp.
"This time of year, people all over the country give generously to charities,” said De Croo. “The federal government wants to support the commitment of all these people and will therefore give €100,000 to Music For Life. That amount will be shared by two non-profit organisations that are working hard to protect the most vulnerable children in the South, children who often have no home. These organisations give children a real future, and we want to contribute our part. "
The federal government also donated €100,000 to RTBF’s Viva For Life, the French-speaking public broadcaster's charity which is also raising funds for projects to combat child poverty.
