Facebook page displaying drunk students taken down

12:15 09/01/2013

A Facebook page called Failed: Leuven, which displayed random pictures of Leuven students in various states of drunkenness and disorderliness, has been taken down, Le Soir reports. The page was removed from the social network because it violated the legislation on the protection of privacy and image rights. “Anyone who wishes to publish a photo of someone, even if their faces are not recognisable, must request the explicit permission of the person concerned in advance,” said Stephanie Gille, spokesperson for Leuven police. The police advise anyone finding themselves on a social network page without prior consent to file a complaint with the police or the Commission for the Protection of Privacy.
