European Parliament agrees to end roaming charges

15:33 06/04/2017

Additional costs for surfing and calling abroad are about to become a thing of the past. After years of discussion, the European Parliament today passed a law for the abolishment of the roaming charges from June 2017, writes Het Laatste Nieuws.

The European Parliament already approved the reform on roaming charges in January, but today's parliamentary vote made it official. Roaming charges will permanently disappear this year on 15 June, so that telecoms customers in Belgium will pay the same price for a call to another EU country as for one within Belgium.

The reform is a major victory for European consumers, according to the newspaper.

It won't be a victory if those charges are simply moved tom other areas of the business.

Hope Belgium will also reduce all its Internet Service Provider costs for the internet. In France cost for internet + gsm + tv + landline telephone calls inside the country -at faster downoad and upload speeds costs about €14per month or less per month - students €10 per month approximately from any internet service provider. In Belgium costs are a lot higher for a smaller area which is very unreasonable for customers here. Time things changed, isn't it? The Directors here just wants to be greedy.
