Epsom salts

Question

Where to buy? And is rough sea salt a substitute? Tia

Rico

Years ago when I needed some, I could only find it at the local pharmacy. It was very expensive, something link 20 euros for a small package, at least 10 times the price as in England.
You likely can get it shipped from a seller in the UK.

Rough sea salt as a substitute: depends on what you need it for. For soaking your feet, possibly, for relaxation, not as much, for intestinal transit, not so much.

Epsom salt is is simple magnesium sulfate compound (Mg)2SO4.
Ask for "sulfate de magnesium" in French at any pharmacist.

Rico is correct. Epsom Salts are available here through the pharmacy at 10 times the price, because what is sold in the pharmacy is "food" or "drug" grade magnesium sulfate. It's fine if you want to take it internally, but for soaking in the bath....wow! That's expensive.

I've brought it back from England when I go and I've had very kind folks buy it for me from the US military PX. The last time I bought it I ordered from amazon.co.uk. I hoard it carefully and I am no longer liberally adding it to every bath.

That said however, there are nice sea salts available that will make a good soaking baths, but they are not a substitute for Epsom Salts. This is one product I wish were available here, OTC.
