Envelope with suspect powder found in Malonne convent

11:52 16/10/2012

An envelope containing a type of powder looking suspiciously like anthrax has been found in the Clarisses convent in Malonne, where Marc Dutroux accomplice Michelle Martin has been residing since her release from prison in September. The sisters called the police after finding the suspicious package in their letterbox; the police called in a civilian protection team, which explained that there are three potential dangers: explosive, radiological and nuclear. The latter has been ruled out. Lab tests will identify the powder within 48 hours and ascertain whether it is indeed anthrax. An official enquiry has been launched.
