In most schools in belgium children learn to read at 6 - in first primary ...
If your daughter is going to school in English thenshe will learn to read and write there ....
If she is going to school in NL or FR - then all recommendations would be that you do not try and teach a child to read and write in more than one language at a time.
My suggestion would be that if you want a five year old to have exposure to english then you can do this through playdaates with English speaking children / activities in English / cartoons / films in English - things that are fun and enjoyable -

of course if you want to have a private tutor - then I'm sure you will find plenty of people in Belgium (you need to say where you are) .. ready to do this for 30 euros an hour or more :-)

Thank you for your answers. Actually my daughter is going to a french school, but at home she speaks in English as i (her mother) is from UK. Now the reason that i want her to start to read and write in english is because we maybe moving from brussels where the schools do assessments for small children to give them a place in a english school. So i just want to prepare her for this. I try to teech her but as i have another small child its difficult to have ger full attention.
Looking for someone 1hour 2times a week.
Thank you

Hi Popsyy,

I am also an experienced TEFL certified tutor. I am currently teaching an 11, 13, 5, and professionals.

If you are looking for English tutors, you can look in the classified section of this website under "lessons and courses" and there are usually many offers for tutors.

It depends on what you want to pay per hour that varies on what type of tutor you will get! Good Luck - and not to overly advertise my services, but you can of course get in touch if you would like some more information and references! leberdt@bu.edu

I'm an International School teacher (been one for 20 years). My strength is teaching reading and writing to children starting from age 5. I use the phonetic method which works wonderfully :)
My own children were reading from the age of 4. I give English and Piano lessons at my place. Sometimes I go to the students home, depending on distance etc. I'm in Watermael Boitfort and at the moment my schedule is pretty full but I do have a few slots left, so if you are interested, let me know. sharmmercier@gmail.com
Good luck!

Hello,

I am in search for a native speaking tutor to improve my Grammar. With my current job I have to draft Position Papers. The idea is to set up a programme, meet once a week after office hours in Brussels. So are there any recommendations?
