electric cable for laptop

Question

Hi all,

The electric cable of my laptop broke, and the company doesn't make them anymore. Any idea where I can buy a new one (ASUS G71G=A2) or get it fixed? Preferrably in Uccle.

Thank you.

alternate.be has universal power adapters.

take a look here:

http://www.alternate.be/html/categoryListing.html?cat1=36&cat2=999&cat3=22&cat1=36&cat2=288&cat3=0&tgid=223&tn=BUILDERS&l1=Notebooks&l2=Stroomvoorziening&

Or you can go to mediamarket and look for a universal adapter and see if they have any.  I think I have seen them there.

Also, try elak.be http://www.elak.com/default.aspx

Now, if the universal adapters are too expensive, next thing to do is look at the requirements of the power cord.  I googled it up and it says:

  • AC Input: 100 ~ 240V 50~ 60Hz
  • DC Output: 19V 4.74A 90W
  • Connector: 5.5mm * 2.5mm
  • http://www.global-laptop-batteries.com/asus-ac-adapter/Asus-G71G-A2-AC-Adapter.html#
  • You can try to find computer repair shops and see if they have similar adapters that they don't need anymore.
  • I had a toshiba laptop whose power adapter stopped working.  Back in the usa, i found computer repair shops and one of them had an hp power cord that had the same requirements as my toshiba laptop.  We powered it up and it worked, so i got the power cord for 10 dollars.
  • Next bet is ebay, but plenty of computer repair shops in chaussee d'ixelles, in the porte de namur area.  Just go up that street and I think i have seen repair shops there where you can see if they have similar power cords (19v 4.74A) and that might be your cheaper bet.
