Dutch bitcoin exchange Bitplaats coming to Belgium
Forget about issues with the Euro, Belgians are about to get an alternative currency to exchange at home. The Dutch bitcoin exchange Bitplaats has announced its plans to expand business into Belgium. Belgian bitcoin users will now be able to trade the digital currency using the Bancontact/Mister Cash online payment platform.
Until now, Belgian bitcoin users were forced to use international exchange houses. The overseas exchange process took days to complete, and users were often left no choice but to hand over lots of personal information, something that won’t be required with the Bitplaats system. Now, according to Bitplaats, transactions will be easy. Bitplaats says that the transition to bitcoins using the existing payment systems for cash will be problem free.
The introduction of a locally based bitcoin exchange comes at a time when the currency is starting to pick up steam in Belgium, as an increasing number of companies embrace the currency.
