Do agreements in English have legal value in the Brussels region?

Question

Or do they need to be translated to one of the official languages to be a binding agreement?

I am asking because I have an English addendum to my French language rental contract, and I am not sure if it will be recognized as a valid agreement should there be trouble.

According to my notaire it has to be in one of the official languages - so not in English.

The only (recent) exception is that employment contracts in English are valid as a result of a judgement by the European Court, but that ruling depended on EU employment issues which wouldn't extend into other areas.

English (or any other language) is fine, but if it needs to be enforced, you will need to have it "officially" translated to FR or NL.

Thank you for your answers. I am guessing a certified translation would be costly if needed, so I will ask for an agreement in an official language to be safe from the beginning.
