Dentist

Question

Hello - I have a question about the Scandinavian Dental Centre (at Av. des Arts), to which I have been going. I realised that their dentists have changed and the principal dentist is very rarely available. Has anyone had experience with their new dentists? TIA.

i was seen by a woman dentist who was very personable but I was not impressed with the care I received. She barely examined my teeth, did a very cursory cleaning and did not notice that I needed to see a periodontist. I mentioned pain in a tooth and she told me it was probably due to night grinding; however, 10 days later I was on travel in the US and had to see a dentist due to increasing pain. The US dentist examined my teeth, took xrays and identified an infection and an abscess. The US dentist also told me I needed to see a periodontist when I got home due to some bone and gum loss--neither of which was mentioned by the dentist at the scandanavian center. Expensive and not impressed.

I have also seen the woman dentist and have had only positive experiences with her level of care. Since I started seeing her she has completed several fillings for me in the front and back teeth. They look really natural like the original healthy teeth. I have also been really happy with the scale and polish each time and she is always very good at explaining everything to me before she carries out any work. Overall I have been extremely satisfied with this lady and it doesn't bother me not seeing the principal dentist who is only there infrequently anyway. I hope this helps.

I've been going to the Scandanavian clinic since I first had my orthodontics put in over 18 years ago now and have had many a filling (whoops) and check-up since. The clinic has always had a reputation for offering top quality service, and this is reflected in the price, which isn't cheap but in my opinion worth the extra buck. I've seen many dentists come and go, as well as having been seen many times by the 'principal' dentists. I've been seen by the new lady a few times now and she is no exception. In fact, her level of care and attention to detail has been amongst the best I've seen there so I was very surprised to read about Sparkles' experience, enough to push me to post my own experience and opinion, which I'm sure 99% of her patients would agree with. This place has always been the go-to place for anglophone expats living in Brussels and I have no doubt it will continue to do so as the new generation of dentists look to be sharper than ever.
