Delhaize Belgium CEO Van den Berghe resigns

Dirk Van den Berghe, CEO of Delhaize Belgium and Luxembourg, is leaving Delhaize Group as of July 31, the group reported today in a press release. Delhaize Group announced that Van den Berghe has decided to accept a new role outside the company.

“The decision to leave was a difficult one,” says Van den Berghe, “but I believe that this new opportunity is the best for me and my family right now.” Van den Berghe has held the position of CEO Delhaize Belgium and Luxembourg since January 1, 2012.

The listed Delhaize Group operates in nine countries and last year posted sales of €20.9 billion, with a net profit of €179 million. Some 160,000 people are employed by Delhaize Group.
