De Lijn drivers in Brussels suburbs call sudden strike

10:33 05/11/2019

An unplanned strike by bus drivers is disrupting several De Lijn routes on the outskirts of Brussels.

Drivers called the sudden strike on Tuesday morning. "We are awaiting official confirmation from the trade unions," a De Lijn spokeswoman said. "We are currently making a list of the lines that are not running."

The drivers are protesting about working conditions. Due to recent staff shortages, several services have had to be cancelled and drivers redeployed to "priority" routes.

The walkout is affecting services in Dilbeek, Asse, Grimbergen, Vilvoorde, Leerbeek and Meerbeek.
