De Kapoentjes kindergarten in Diegem

Question

Hi, just wanted to know if any of you knows this kindergarten in Diegem? They are apparently operating for 5 years now. We visited the place, and would still like to find anyone who would give his/her opinion about the staff, the activities...and the price?
I'm still trying to look around this region for alternatives. Suggestions are welcome.
Thank you

Our daughter went there 2-3 years ago and we were happy with them. It is run by mother and daughter, which made me bit uneasy in the beginning (I was worried that possible problems would be covered by the family tie), but the owners are really nice and professional. They always had time to discuss with the parents and kept us well up to date on the child's daily activities and development. The price is average Brussels price, not as low as communal daycare but well below the prices of the English creches.

The staff is bilingual and they host both French and Dutch mother tongue kids, as well as many foreign kids. The food is prepared in place by the staff and they have a good variety. The space they have is not very big and it is bit worn out, but that will be the case for most of the creches in and around Brussels. Nurses are polite and get well along with the kids. They do a lot of drawing, painting, small crafts etc. They also have a nice size back yard and spend time outside on good weather. The staff stayed steady the 1.5year we used them.

I do have to say that my daughter started there only when 18months old and I probably would not have gone there if I'd needed the place when she was a baby. They do take children all ages, but have only one play room. The smallest ones are separated in a kind of a very large play pen and I was always wondering how the nurses find time to tend the babies whilst the toddlers run and play all around. On the other hand if you have two kids close in age you get the advantage of having them in same place.

AO, Thanks very much for sharing your experience.
With my companion, we have absolutely no experience with kindergartens and we don't know how we should judge them.
My companion is urging me to go forward but I want to see at least 2 more.
The responsible of De Kapoentjes told us she has only one place left, I guess it's also a bit the norm to say this to parents.

More opinions are still welcome.

I assume you are talking about a creche? Places at creches are very hard to get. You're lucky to have found a personal opinion. Ask for the Kind en Gezin inspection report, if the creche refuses to give it to you (not a good indication in itself), then ask Kind en Gezin.
