cycling - advice on how to get around in Brussels

Question

Hmm - I am not sure what my question is but I would like to get some advice. I want to buy an electric bike mostly to use for pleasure trips around or outside Brussels in the weekends. I have done some research and I know more or less what I am looking for. Now I am not at all used to cycling as it is 30 years ago I last had a bike so I need someone who could teach me or show me how best to get around in Brussels and to find the best routes. I have bought a big cycling map with all the cycling paths in Brussels but I would still prefer to have a guide. I have contacted Provelo several times. According to their website they offer private lessons but I can't seem to get a reply from them. I talked to somebody there and he gave me an emailaddress which didn't work. I then sent them an email asking them to forward it to the relevant person but still I haven't heard anything. So does anybody have any suggestions or do you know somebody who would be my guide for a couple of trips. Naturally I am willing to pay.

I would check with your local tourism office. I know the one in Tervuren periodically offers guided rides at a very minimal cost.
