Brave the spring chill and head outdoors for the first outdoor aperitif of the season. Les Apéros urbains kicks off this evening (Friday) on the esplanade of the Cinquantenaire park. Live DJ music and other entertainment on the menu. Bring your own lemon, says the flyer in a nod to a competition on its Facebook page. The afterwork event runs all summer in a different venue each week. From 17.00-23.30.
The capital is rainbow-coloured this weekend in honour of the annual Pride Festival. Pride.be 2015 activities fill the city centre with the highlight a colourful parade on Saturday. Pride Village opens at 12.30 and the parade starts at 14.00. DJ sets and live music on the main stage at the Bourse.
There are still tickets on sale for some of this weekend’s concerts at the annual Botanique music festival Les Nuits 2015. French DJ crew Birdy Nam Nam are just one of the groups on stage for the final weekend of this music event that promotes upcoming artists of all genres.
Kunstenfestivaldesarts is staging Belgian and international cultural projects throughout the month of May. This weekend you can discover the world of Italian director Romeo Castellucci who returns to Kfda with an intimate theatrical project described as ‘a little gem’. As part of an on-going project, Uso umano di esseri umani (Human Use of Human Beings) is an exercise involving the Lingua Generalissima, an artificial language that Castellucci’s company Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio has been developing for some thirty years. In Italian, with French and Dutch surtitles.
Parck Farm is welcoming the first edition of a festival that tells you all you need to know about keeping chickens in an urban environment on Saturday, from 14.00. Chicken Festival includes workshops, information sessions, debates, concerts, refreshments and entertainment for kids. Until 21.00, free entrance.
Still figurentheater is an inventive paper theatre for kids (ages five and up), a wordless seated show in two parts, which takes the audience along on a visual trip through the power of the human imagination. At Ancienne Belgique on Saturday afternoon, at 15.00.
International networking club Full Circle meets up on Tuesday 19 May to hear photographer Jimmy Nelson discuss his experiences with some of the world's disappearing indigenous tribes.
