Contract: furnished vs unfurnished apartment

Question

Dear all,

Several years ago I was told that if a furnished apartment is rented out as unfurnished, this entails sanctions for the landlord. Is this still valid and if yes, what is the body where one should lodge a complaint?

Thank you very much in advance!

Maybe you should try mediation before you follow this route. You clearly benefited from getting the furniture while benefiting from an unfurnished lease terms. Maybe your landlord will resolve the issues quickly. You should also read the lease very carefully. There are certain carefully worded terms that allow the landlord to leave some furniture in. Mediation might stop things getting out of control.

Dear Wezembeek Anderer,

Thank you very much for this helpful and constructive suggestion.

I just would like to specify that, indeed, I have been using the furniture, but the rent I pay is higher than the rent for an unfurnished apartment. So, from my point of view, I do not think that I have any benefits= I just pay more for something extra, which is fair enough.

This, said, I will definitely give your idea a thought!

Thank you once again for your advice and I wish you a nice evening.

Give it a go. Taking on the locals can lead to many issues.
The big advantage of an unfurnished lease is much greater and longer security of tenure.
