Congestion but no nightmare on the roads
Belgium
12:14 03/10/2012
Today’s national rail strike is, as predicted, having an impact on the congestion level on Belgium’s roads. The morning rush hour started earlier for many and a number of accidents contributed to unusual congestion. However, many people had made carpooling arrangements and drove to work together. There were greater delays than usual being reported on the outer Brussels orbital ring road, while there was congestion in and around Antwerp, but no exceptional delays have been reported. Carpooling firm Taxistop says they received 1,600 requests for today, compared to 50 requests on a normal day.
