Colonoscopy
Hello, everyone,
I've just gotten a referral for a colonoscopy (I have a family history of cancer) and now I'm looking for suggestions where to go. Can you recommend a doctor at St. Luc or some other reliable hospital? How much could the procedure cost (I'm insured)?
Thank you in advance,
Catalina
Dr Luc Oosterbosch is superb on Avenue Paul Huymans but he is expensive.
Can highly recommend dr. Luc Oosterbosch, avenue Paul Hymans, Woluwe St Lambert. Metro Tomberg. Google him for phone number. Speaks English. Need two consultations: one to explain procedure and for prescription, and second for the procedure itself. No hassle, no pain! All done discreetly in his consulting room.
If you are insured, you will be reimbursed (partially?), but ask the cost when you call.

He will do it with sedation or with anaesthesia at one of the hospitals he works at .
Very good, gives you options and answers all questions.
Any of the clinic in or around Brussels will do it.
Make an appointment with a gastronterologist and proceed from there.
It's usual now to be sedated. You don't experience anything.
You can even have an endoscopy at the same time.
I can recommend Dr Douala at Clinique Leopold in Brussels. They hospitalise you for a half day. Cost about 1800 euro.
Seems to be full sedation. I was out like a light. But he did say that they "give this to children." I also went to sleep for a while afterwards, and he came to wake me up to have a coffee. I note the other comments that this can be carried out in lots of clinics. However, Dr Oosterbosch's approach is impeccable. The procedure is carried out around 1400 hours, after you have had a normal night's sleep and have drunk the stuff and done the rest during the morning. I spoke to 4 male colleagues who had had the procedure at 9 am in clinics, and all of them said"Never again!" . I will not mention which clinics. By the way, if I recall correctly, the doctor said to add lemon juice to the stuff. Have to say that it did not taste that bad - have drunk far worse red wine. Good Luck. I will certainly go back to Dr. O when I need the next one - no hesitation.
