Colonoscopie/Gastroscopie
It was very expensive : around 900 euros but it was worth it. He is excellent.
Colonoscopy is more expensive than gastroscopy.
Do you not have Mutuelle cover? Or private insurance? In any case, two visits are necessary; the first for the explanation and the prescription for the liquid to take on the day of the examination; the second visit for the examination itself. I had this done in 2009 by Dr. Oosterbosch, but don't recall the cost. Typically, this examination is only needed once every 10 years, so if the cost is that high, and the examination is done by him, it's a worthwhile investment! He is one of the best doctors I have been lucky enough to meet. Hope he's still around when I need the next one.
It doesn't cost that much. I think around 200 euros. But of course it's reimbursable by the mutuelle. And as for the receptionist not telling you the price, insist!!!!! He's a great doctor
I asked a similar question last spring. After much heart searching, I decided to go to St. Luc hospital and I am very happy I did it. All in all, I paid EUR 14 and the quality of the care I received was excellent. (My mutuelle paid about EUR600, judging from the invoice). Do not hesitate, choose a teaching hospital.
Yes, yes, of course! I went out like a light plus I had beautiful dreams (honest, when I was sedated 13 years ago, I just had a blackout). I must also add that I felt like a queen: everyone at St. Luc was great. Dr. Audrey Dieu sedated me, and dr. Nathalie (forgot her family name) did the procedure.
No problem. With a mutuelle cover, you do not pay anything - the invoice will arrive after some time (3 moth in my case). I only showed a referral from my GP at the hospital and asked for a consultation with a a doctor to discuss the details (the reception told me such a visit is not compulsory as another doctor had already qualified me for th procedure, but I insisted). No prescription is necessary for the medication before the exam. It is OTC. As for the wait time, in my case it was a week, but I understand it could vary depending on various factors (I am 40 and have a family history of cancer).
And now the only problem there was - I was supposed to have both a gastro and colono performed under one sedation, BUT they didn't do the gastro as it "was not in the order" due to a bureaucratic mistake I assume. That was disappointing, I admit.
I hope it helps.
Good luck!
And yes, what you pay (as shown in the invoice after it was settled by the mutuelle) it the difference; EUR1.80+13 in my case.
