Children studying and living outside of the home cost their parents some €12,450 annually. Students who instead stay at home and commute to their classes every day cost an average of €8,128 euros per year, according to numbers from the Centre for Budget Advice and Research (Cebud). "The living expenses weigh most heavily on the final bill," said Esther Geboers of Cebud."For clothing, grooming, food and relaxation you can already expect to shell out €6,963 on average." The indirect costs of living such as rent, transportation, books and supplies can easily add up to another €4,185 per year. "Actually, the direct study costs (including courses, enrollment and laptop) are the lowest, at €1,303," said Geboers.
